Reciting Certain Chapters of the Holy Quran on Sweets and then Distributing them

الاستفتاء

Assalamu Alaikum Mufthi Sahib,
There is a practice here in Bannu during Ramadhan. After the Ifthar of 22nd Ramadhan people recite Sura e Ankaboot and Sura e Room on sweets and distribute in mosques and houses. And on the 26th Ramadhan people cook rice and then distribute among the relatives etc Is it correct according to the Shariah and is it among the Sunnah. Please reply soon.

In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent and the Most Merciful
The referred practice is not Sunnah, rather, it is just a tradition for which there is no evidence or connection what so ever to the Holy Prophetﷺ, his companions, the Tabi'een or those after them. Hence, it is essential to refrain from indulging in such practices, considering them to be necessary or to confine any rewards specific to this tradition.
And Allah knows best.
