A lot of things (like Shampoo, perfume etc.) contains alcohol

Nowadays a lot of things (like Shampoo, perfume etc.) contains alcohol. Is it allowed in Islam to use these things? Meaning, is it not unlawful (حرام)?

If it is evident by means of research that the alcohol added in such things are extracted from dates or grapes, and its intrinsic qualities (essence, nature) has not been changed through any scientific or alchemic method, then in this case, using things in which alcohol has been added is not permissible and unlawful (حرام), and must be avoided. However, if the alcohol has been extracted from things other than dates and grapes, (such as wheat, potatoes, sulfur or any other flower, fruit or vegetable) then there are different opinions regarding its usage. Based on this, there is leeway in using perfumes, shampoos etc. that has this type of alcohol added in their ingredients.
