Every year, we perform the Eid Salah on a street outside of the masjid even though there is enough space inside the masjid. We perform Salah on the street so that those residing close to the masjid, who are Shi’ah, Christians and Brelwi, may know the strength of the Muslims or have fear for us. The street we perform Salah on is the main street for entering the city and it is blocked during the performance of Salah. If we do not use this road to perform Salah, the innovative people of another nearby masjid will occupy the street for their Eid Salah. In this scenario, is it permissible to perform the Eid Salah on the street outside the masjid?
It is Mustahab (recommended) to perform the Eid Salah in an open area so that the strength and dignity of the Muslims can be manifested. If after blocking up the main road, there are other streets that are easily accessible and convenient for the use of the public, then it would be permissible to perform the Eid Salah on the main road, otherwise it should be performed inside of the masjid.
And Allah knows best.
