My brother and sister went to England and became Christians. According to Islamic teachings, should we keep ties with them? What is the punishment for such a person?
It is indeed saddening to know that the questioner’s siblings have renounced Islam. May Allah safeguard our Iman. As long as the questioner and his relatives are hopeful of them returning to the fold of Islam, they should maintain friendly ties with them, encourage them to revert to Islam, and supplicate to Allah for their guidance. However, if despite the family’s efforts, they insist on not returning to Islam, then you must cut ties with them. If the questioner’s siblings were in an Islamic state, the punishment of renouncing Islam would be issued upon them, which is being stoned to death after three days of imprisonment in the case of a man, and permanent imprisonment in the case of a woman.
