Laws of Marriage

I have secretly married a woman. At the time of the marriage, there was a witness and the registrar of marriage himself was also another witness. Is this marriage lawful in Shari’a?

الجوابُ حامِدا ًو مُصلیِّا ً

At the time of marriage, apart from the questioner and the concerned woman, if there were two sane men present (even though one of them was the registrar of marriage) and also the questioner and the woman are equally matched as per the Kuf’u, then the marriage has been validly performed as per the Shari’a. But specially for a girl to marry someone like this without bringing to the notice of the parents is extremely wrong and inappropriate. Therefore, it is necessary for both of them to explain this relationship to their parents as soon as possible and try to get their consent.
