Ruling on Singing and Listening to Songs on Wedding Occasions

Is it permissible to sing or listen to songs on wedding occasions?

الجوابُ حامِدا ًو مُصلیِّا ً

In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent and the Most Merciful
Happiness is a blessing from Allah the Almighty. It is necessary to be thankful to Allah for his blessings, and to not be ungrateful to him by indulging in prohibited and unlawful (Haram) activities which may invite His wrath. As for singing or listening to songs with musical instruments, both are Haram and impermissible as per Shari’ah, hence it is obligatory to refrain from them.
