A company in Qatar needs workers for a plant. I have not worked in such a plant, but I know how to operate the machines there, because I have ten years of experience in a similar plant, and I had studied about it. If I mention about this plant in my resume and my interview is also cleared, and they select me for the job, will that job be Halal for me? It should be noted that I have indicated in my CV that I am working in the requested plant, while I have not worked in it personally. I only know what is done in this plant and I know how to operate the machines because every plant has the same type of machine.
It is not permissible to misrepresent and lie in order to meet the conditions set by any company to obtain a job. Therefore, it was not permissible for the questioner to list the skills of this particular machine in his CV. Rather, due to this misrepresentation, he has committed a lie and fraud, for which he must repent and seek forgiveness and avoid this behavior in the future. However, if the questioner’s interview is cleared on the back of these papers and obtains the job, and the questioner continues to perform this work with full responsibility, then the salary he receives will not be impermissible in Sharia.
