Do grandsons and granddaughters have a share in the maternal grandmother’s estate? The mother passed away before the grandmother.
It should be understood that the rules of inheritance take effect only after the death of the deceased, not during their lifetime. Therefore, in the present case, since the questioner’s mother passed away while her own mother (the questioner’s maternal grandmother) was still alive, the questioner and her siblings will not inherit any share of the grandmother’s estate through their deceased mother. However, if the heirs of the deceased grandmother wish to give them something from their shares, they have the discretion to do so, and it is a source of reward and virtue, but it is not obligatory upon them.
