Registering one’s marriage necessary as per Shari’ah

My question is that is registering one’s marriage necessary as per Shari’ah?

Marriage is valid when Ijab (proposal) and Qabool (acceptance) is done by the boy, girl or on their behalf by their wakeel, in the presence of witnesses. After that, it is not necessary as per Shari’ah to register one’s marriage. However, one should legally register his marriage to avoid any problems in future.
