Ruling on Prayer in the Case of Continuous Bleeding

I am over forty years old, and I have been experiencing menstruation for the past two weeks. This is the third Friday, and the bleeding has not stopped. Can I perform Salah (prayer)?

الجوابُ حامِدا ًو مُصلیِّا ً

It should be noted that if a woman’s menstrual cycle is fixed and in any month the bleeding continues beyond her usual days and exceeds ten days, then only the days corresponding to her regular habit will be considered menstruation (hayd), while the bleeding beyond that will be regarded as istihadah (non-menstrual or illness-related bleeding). Therefore, in the present case, only the days of her habitual period will be counted as menstruation. During those days, she must refrain from Salah (prayer) and Sawm (fasting). For the additional days, she must make up the missed prayers and fasts. In the future, if the same situation occurs again, she should consider only her fixed days as menstruation, stop praying during those days, and once they end, she should perform ghusl (ritual bath) and then pray as usual, making a fresh wudu (ablution) at each prayer time, and continue with her regular prayers.

مأخَذُ الفَتوی

کما في الهدايۃ : و لو زاد الدم على عشرة أيام و لها عادة معروفة دونها ردت إلى أيام عادتها و الذي زاد استحاضة " لقوله عليه الصلاة و السلام " المستحاضة تدع الصلاة أيام أقرائها " و لأن الزائد على العادة يجانس ما زاد على العشرة فيلحق به الخ (باب الحیض والاستخاضۃ، ج: 1، ص: 67، ط: کتب خانہ مجیدیہ)۔
وفی الدر المختار: (ودم استحاضة) حكمه (كرعاف دائم) وقتا كاملا (لا يمنع صوما وصلاة) ولو نفلا (وجماعا) لحديث توضئي وصلي وإن قطر الدم على الحصير الخ (کتاب الطھارۃ، باب الحیض، ج1 ص: 298 ط: ایچ ایم سعید)۔
وفی فتح القدیر: (قوله ولو زاد الدم على عشرة أيام ولها عادة معروفة دونها ردت إلى أيام عادتها) فيكون الزائد على العادة استحاضة وإن كان داخل العشرة، وهل تترك بمجرد رؤيتها الزيادة؟ اختلف فيه، قيل لا إذا لم يتيقن بكونه حيضا لاحتمال الزيادة على العشرة الخ (کتاب الطھارۃ باب الحیض ج1، ص: 176، ط: دارالفکر)۔
