A woman made a vow that she would fast on Thursdays and Fridays regularly if a certain person recovered from illness. After the person recovered, she did keep the fasts continuously for one year, but then she could no longer continue fasting. Now, she wishes to offer compensation (fidyah) for the unfulfilled part of her vow. Kindly advise what she should do in this regard. Inquirer: Rashid Mahmood
The mentioned woman should fulfill her vow and make up for the fasts she has missed so far. As long as she is not completely unable to fast, giving fidyah is not permissible. She must avoid opting for fidyah unless she becomes completely incapable of fasting.
