What do the respected Ulema say in this regard? Zaid is a leather trader and he purchases skin of dead animal from non-muslims on condition that he will deduct the cost of purifying the skin and after purifying he sells the skin. There are thousands of traders like this in India and they have been engaged in this type of business for over 20 years. What is the ruling with regard to the business done by him. Please reply. Thanks

Although purchasing of un-tanned skin of dead animal is invalid, yet when the charges of tanning is the responsibility of the Hindu seller and it is also a normal phenomenon, in such a circumstance it appears to be an allowance in doing so. But what is better is that, the transaction be made after the completion of tanning.
