If as a freelancer, one does not do any kind of work that is unacceptable

How should one earn money? There are some websites through which foreigners give work to people from Pakistan, like making company logos or web designing, through online freelancing, then they pay us for our work. Please provide the answer to this question. Jazakallah.

الجوابُ حامِدا ًو مُصلیِّا ً

Working as a freelancer falls under the category of “اجیر مشترک” (Sheared Worker) in Contracts of Leasing, which is permissible according to the Sharia. If as a freelancer, one does not do any kind of work that is unacceptable according to the Sharia, then this is permissible for him and his payment will also be lawful “حلال”, under the condition that his payment, task and work period be specified.

مأخَذُ الفَتوی

کمافی الهداية: قال: "الأجراء على ضربين: أجير مشترك، وأجير خاص. فالمشترك من لا يستحق الأجرة حتى يعمل كالصباغ والقصار"؛ لأن المعقود عليه إذا كان هو العمل أو أثره كان له أن يعمل للعامة؛ لأن منافعه لم تصر مستحقة لواحد، فمن هذا الوجه يسمى مشتركا اھ(ج3 ص242)۔

وفی الھندیۃ: ومنها أن يكون المعقود عليه وهو المنفعة معلوما علما يمنع المنازعة فإن كان مجهولا جهالة مفضية إلى المنازعة يمنع صحة العقد وإلا فلا اھ(ج4 ص411)۔ واللہ اعلم بالصوا
