meat in KFC, McDonald's and Subway etc Halal or Haram?

I am writing you from London with a very common question.Is the meat used in fast food like KFC, McDonald's and Subway etc halal or haram?A friend of mine here says that the meat used in fast food shops especially KFC and McDonald's is not haram. The point on which he argues is that in Quran its nowhere mentioned that this kind of meat is haram. I have taken a few verses from Quran which discuss this matter but these verses are not very clear. These verses say that the animal on which the name of other than Allah has been said is haram but these verses do not clarify the matter about the meat slaughtered with jerks on which no ones name has been said.Could you please guide us towards the right.

اس نے تم پر مرا ہوا جانور اور لہو اور سور کا گوشت اور جس چيز پر خدا کے سوا کسي اور کا نام پکارا جائے حرام کرديا ہے ہاں جو ناچار ہوجائے (بشرطيکہ ) خدا کي نافرماني نہ کرے اور حد (ضرورت) سے باہر نہ نکل جائے اس پر کچھ گناہ نہيں? بےشک خدا بخشنے والا (اور) رحم کرنے والا ہے
تم پر مرا ہوا جانور اور (بہتا) لہو اور سور کا گوشت اور جس چيز پر خدا کے سوا کسي اور کا نام پکارا جائے اور جو جانور گلا گھٹ کر مر جائے اور جو چوٹ لگ کر مر جائے اور جو گر کر مر جائے اور جو سينگ لگ کر مر جائے يہ سب حرام ہيں اور وہ جانور بھي جس کو درندے پھاڑ کھائيں? مگر جس کو تم (مرنے سے پہلے) ذبح کرلو اور وہ جانور بھي جو تھان پر ذبح کيا جائے اور يہ بھي کہ پاسوں سے قسمت معلوم کرو يہ سب گناہ (کے کام) ہيں آج کافر تمہارے دين سے نااميد ہو گئے ہيں تو ان سے مت ڈرو اور مجھي سے ڈرتے رہو (اور) آج ہم نے تمہارے لئے تمہارا دين کامل کر ديا اور اپني نعمتيں تم پر پوري کر ديں اور تمہارے لئے اسلام کو دين پسند کيا ہاں جو شخص بھوک ميں ناچار ہو جائے (بشرطيکہ) گناہ کي طرف مائل نہ ہو تو خدا بخشنے والا مہربان ہے
کہو کہ جو احکام مجھ پر نازل ہوئے ہيں ان ميں کوئي چيز جسے کھانے والا کھائے حرام نہيں پاتا بجز اس کے کہ وہ مرا ہوا جانور يا بہتا لہو يا سور کا گوشت کہ يہ سب ناپاک ہيں يا کوئي گناہ کي چيز ہو کہ اس پر خدا کے سوا کسي اور کا نام ليا گيا ہو اور اگر کوئي مجبور ہو جائے ليکن نہ تو نافرماني کرے اور نہ حد سے باہر نکل جائے تو تمہارا پروردگار بخشنے والا مہربان ہے
اس نے تم پر مُردار اور لہو اور سور کا گوشت حرام کرديا ہے اور جس چيز پر خدا کے سوا کسي اور کا نام پکارا جائے (اس کو بھي) ہاں اگر کوئي ناچار ہوجائے تو بشرطيکہ گناہ کرنے والا نہ ہو اور نہ حد سے نکلنے والا تو خدا بخشنے والا مہربان ہے

الجوابُ حامِدا ًو مُصلیِّا ً

Let it be known that the Qur'an Shareef is a complete code of life. With regard to Halal and Haram of edible things only the rule is explained in it and although the animals slaughtered for names other than Allah is declared Haram in it, it could be understood by referring deeply that the animal which was not at all slaughtered but killed by a jerk, or the conditions of slaughtering were not met, or the one who slaughters is not fully equipped with all the conditions needed, is not considered in the eyes of Shari'a as a slaughtered animal but it is called as a dead animal because in Qur'an Shareef only the meat of such animals which are slaughtered in the blessed name of Allah Tha'ala is declared Halal whereas no ruling is mentioned whatsoever about being Halal of an animal which is not slaughtered at all but clarifications of these rules are found in abundance in books of Ahadees. And in this context all the clarifications which the students of Sahaba Radhiallahu Anhum Ajma'een explained to their circle of students are available in books of Fiqh. Therefore if someone says that there is nothing mentioned about an animal killed by a jerk etc. in Qur'an it is based on his sheer ignorance of and his distance from the religion. He should try to understand the Shar'i status of problems after gaining knowledge from learned elders. As for the meat of non-muslim companies such as McDonalds and KFC are concerned we do not have any concrete proof to say that it is Halal. Hence it is necessary to abstain from them.
