Performing Hajj or Umrah using the profit earned from a prize bond scheme

Respected Mufti Sahib, Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
Dear Sir, I humbly seek answers to a few questions in the light of the Qur'an and Sunnah. I would be grateful if you could kindly provide your guidance:
(1) Prize bonds, which are issued by the government, Is it permissible to purchase or invest in them? And is it permissible to use the prize money obtained through them for performing Hajj, Umrah, or for any other purpose?
(2) If a person is employed at a bank or the Karachi Stock Exchange, what is the ruling regarding his income? And is it permissible to eat food from his earnings or accept gifts given by him?
(3) If someone steals electricity at home, either by tampering with the meter or by using illegal connections (kunda), in order to reduce the bill, is this permissible or not? And are all household members considered partners in this wrongdoing, even if some of them oppose it?

الجوابُ حامِدا ًو مُصلیِّا ً

(1) The profit given under prize bond schemes is considered interest (riba/usury); therefore, participating in such schemes with the intention of earning profit is not permissible and must be avoided. Since the money obtained from such schemes involves an unlawful and interest-based transaction, using it to fulfill an important obligation of Islam, such as Hajj, that is also impermissible. This too must be strictly avoided.
(2) Clarification: The ruling on employment varies between the two mentioned institutions (that is, banks and the Karachi Stock Exchange). Therefore, the questioner should clarify the nature of the job and the specific institution in question so that a proper Shariah ruling regarding the employment and salary can be given.
(3) All forms of electricity theft mentioned in the question, whether by tampering with the meter or through illegal connections fall under the ruling of theft in Shariah, which is prohibited and unlawful. Therefore, the household members involved in this act must refrain from it. Furthermore, any financial loss caused to the government through this act must be compensated by depositing the equivalent amount, according to government rates, with the relevant department. As for those who genuinely oppose and detest this act, it is hoped they will be absolved of its sin.
