Does Listening to Music Expel a Person from the Fold of Islam?

Does listening to music expel a person from the fold of Islam?

الجوابُ حامِدا ًو مُصلیِّا ً

Listening to music, although impermissible and prohibited in Islam, does not in itself expel a person from the fold of Islam. However, if someone considers this prohibited act to be lawful (halal), then such a belief would render them outside the fold of Islam.

مأخَذُ الفَتوی

كما في شرح العقائد النسفية : والكبيرة قد اختلفت الروايات فيها ( الى قوله) ((لا تخرج العبد المؤمن من الإيمان))، لبقاء التصديق الذي هو حقيقة الإيمان، (إلی قوله) ((ولا تدخله)) أي العبد المؤمن ((في الكفر)) (ص: 63)
و في الفقه الأكبر: ولا نكفر مسلما بذنب من الذنوب وإن كانت كبيرة إذا لم يستحلها ولا نزيل عنه اسم الإيمان ونسميه مؤمنا حقيقة ويجوز ان يكون مؤمنا فاسقا غير كافر اھ (ص: 43) واللہ اعلم بالصواب
