Ruling on selling filtered water

Asalamoalikum, As you know that there are too many companies running filter water business, Is it right to sale water in islamic point of view if yes why? Second some persons have started same water filter business in small colonies, Some person purchase water from tanker suppliers & some get water from govt. lines which are provided in every home in both condition kindly explain is it right or not. Jazakallah

الجوابُ حامِدا ًو مُصلیِّا ً

Selling water is permissible. Hence, there is no problem as per Shari’ah, for the companies who distribute filtered water and those who purchase water from water suppliers to distribute and sell water as a business as long as all legal requirements are fulfilled. However, it is not permissible for one to illegally attach his own pipe line to the government’s water pipes (from which water is directed to people's homes) and sell it to others. This must be avoided.

مأخَذُ الفَتوی

کمافی الدرالمختار: أن الأصل في الأشياء التوقف،إلا أن الفقهاء كثيرا ما يلهجون بأن الأصل الإباحة فالتعريف بناء عليه. الخ (1/105)۔
وفی ردالمحتار: تحت (قوله: إلا أن الفقهاء إلخ) (الی قولہ) مطلب المختار أن الأصل في الأشياء الإباحة أقول: وصرح في التحرير بأن المختار أن الأصل الإباحة عند الجمهور من الحنفية والشافعية الخ (1/105 )۔
