How is it to name a child ‘Zayyan Hussain’? I have heard that the name ‘Ziyan’ does not have good meanings, and ‘Zayyan’ is similar to ‘Ziyan’. Please guide me.
The meaning of Zayyan (زَیَّان — with zabar on “ز” and zabar with shaddah on “ی”) is “something used for adornment and beautification.” In light of this meaning, naming someone Zayyan is permissible. However, Ziyan (زِیَان — with zer on “ز” and zabar on “ی” without shaddah) is a Persian word meaning “loss, damage, or detriment,” so using Ziyan as a name is not appropriate. Since Zayyan has an entirely different and positive meaning, there is no objection to naming someone Zayyan.
