Is It Permissible to Slaughter a Goat for Sadaqah?

الجوابُ حامِدا ًو مُصلیِّا ً

The Pure Shariah does not make it obligatory to slaughter a specific animal for Sadaqah; rather, in giving Sadaqah, one is encouraged to spend in whatever benefits the poor and needy the most. Therefore, although it is permissible in Shariah to slaughter a goat for Sadaqah, if giving cash directly would benefit the poor more, then opting for that is preferable.

مأخَذُ الفَتوی

کما فی صحیح مسلم:عن عدي بن حاتم ، قال: ذكر رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم النار فاعرض واشاح، ثم قال: " اتقوا النار "، ثم اعرض واشاح حتى ظننا انه كانما ينظر إليها، ثم قال: " اتقوا النار ولو بشق تمرة، فمن لم يجد فبكلمة طيبة الخ(باب الحث علی الصدقۃ، 7563)
وفی رد المحتار: لأن العلة في أفضلية القيمة كونها أعون على دفع حاجة الفقير لاحتمال أنه يحتاج غير الحنطة مثلا من ثياب ونحوها بخلاف دفع العروض(باب صدقۃ الفطر،ج:2،ص:366،ط: سعید)۔
