Is wife allowed to ask her husband to give her pocket money

Kindly talk me if a wife is allowed to ask her husband to give her some pocket money.

الجوابُ حامِدا ًو مُصلیِّا ً

If a husband, according to his capability, gives some pocket money to his wife, then this will be a means of reward for him and it will also cause love to develop between them. Taking this into consideration, there is no harm, as per Shari’ah, if a wife asks her husband for pocket money for her own personal expenses. However, it is not incumbent upon a husband to give this money to his wife.

ففی البحر: و لم یذکر المصنف تقدیرًا للنفقۃ لمافی الذخیرۃ و غیرھا من أنہ لیس فی النفقۃ عندنا تقدیر لازم، لأن المقصود من النفقۃ الکفایۃ وذلک مما یختلف فیہ طباع الناس وأحوالھم و یختلف باختلاف الأوقات أیضا، ففی التقدیر بمقدار إضراربأحدھما‘‘۔ (۴/ ۲۹۶) واللہ اعلم باالصواب
