What do the esteemed Muftis and revered scholars say regarding the following issues:
(1) Zaid is a government employee, specifically a school teacher. According to the current government policy, Zaid receives his salary through a bank. The said bank offers Zaid a loan and later deducts the loan amount along with, for example, 10% interest from his salary. Is it permissible for Zaid to take this loan from the bank in case of need or not? A detailed answer is requested.
(2) The duration for wiping over leather socks (khuffayn) for a resident is one day and one night. Is it necessary or obligatory to complete the full period of one day and one night? If the khuffayn are removed before the completion of this duration, will the previous prayers performed while wearing them become invalid, or will they remain valid?
Please provide an answer in accordance with the Qur’an and Hadith.
(1) Taking a loan from a person or a bank in the mentioned manner is based on interest, and therefore it is not permissible according to Islamic law. It is necessary to avoid such transactions.
(2) The duration for wiping over socks (masah) for a resident is one day and one night. If someone removes the socks before the completion of this period, they are not sinful according to Shari‘ah. However, if they are in a state of wudu (ablution), it will then be necessary to wash the feet before performing the next prayer.
