Ruling on Collecting Donations After the Friday Khutbah and Delaying the Prayer

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh! Respected sir, my question is: In our neighborhood mosque, the Qari Sahib — may Allah bless him and increase him in knowledge and righteous deeds — after the second Friday sermon (khutbah thaniyah) sits for about two to three minutes, during which a person collects donations. Is it permissible to delay the Jumu‘ah prayer for a short while after the second khutbah?

الجوابُ حامِدا ًو مُصلیِّا ً

It is permissible to collect donations after the Friday sermon and before the Jumu‘ah prayer, provided that it does not cause a long delay in the prayer. However, it is better that the donation collection be arranged before the sermon rather than after it.

کما فی الدر المختار: (إذا جلس على المنبر) فإذا أتم أقيمت ويكره الفصل بأمر الدنيا ذكره العيني اھ
و فی رد المحتار تحت: (قوله فإذا أتم) أي ‌الإمام ‌الخطبة (قوله أقيمت) بحيث يتصل أول الإقامة بآخر الخطبة وتنتهي الإقامة بقيام الخطيب مقام الصلاة (إلی قولہ) (قوله بأمر الدنيا) إما بنهي عن منكر أو أمر بمعروف فلا وكذا بوضوء أو غسل لو ظهر أنه محدث أو جنب كما مر بخلاف أكل أو شرب حتى لو طال الفصل استأنف الخطبة كما مر فافهم اھ ( باب الجمعۃ، ج:2، ص: 161، ناشر: سعید )-
