I know of a person who doesn't have his own house, nor does he have any cash savings or possessions exceeding his basic needs (i.e. he doesn't really possess anything much other than his bed and other basic amenities). His wife owns two Tola of gold in jewelry that what given to her as dowry. His monthly salary is $3500. Is this person eligible for Zakat?
Since this person possesses less than the threshold of the Nisab, it is permissible for him to be given Zakat and other mandatory forms of charity.
And Allah, The Most High, knows best.
