“If a person (A) arranges a loan of 1.5 million for another person (B) from a third person or the government (C), and person (B) will repay this loan to person (C) in installments, then is it permissible for person (A) to take a commission for this? It should be made clear that without person (A), person (B) would not get the loan; rather, the loan is obtained solely due to person (A)’s efforts.
“It should be made clear that in Islamic Shariah, it is permissible and lawful to receive compensation or wages in the form of a commission in return for one’s services in lawful and permissible matters, provided that those services involve actual effort, such as running around and working practically. However, merely making a recommendation or acting as a guarantor does not make it permissible to take a commission.
Therefore, in the case under question, if person (A) arranges a loan for person (B), and that loan is not interest-based, and person (A) has practically played a role in arranging the loan in such a way that his time or money was spent in the process, then in such a case it will be permissible and valid for person (A) to take a fixed or customary commission for arranging the loan; otherwise, it will not be permissible.”
