For paying the Zakah, should the silver nisab be considered or the gold nisab?

Assalamu Alaikum, respected Mufti! I have 2 tolas of gold and 80,000 rupees in cash. For the purpose of paying zakah, should the nisab be calculated according to 52.5 tolas of silver or 7.5 tolas of gold?
In short, is zakah obligatory on the wealth I currently possess or not?

الجوابُ حامِدا ًو مُصلیِّا ً

It should be clarified that if a person’s wealth consists only of gold from the zakah assets (gold, silver, trade goods, and cash), and none of the other three types are present, then for zakah to become obligatory, 7.5 tolas of gold are required; zakah is not obligatory on less than this amount. However, if gold is combined with any one of the other zakah assets, then the total ownership will be assessed together to see whether it equals 52.5 tolas of silver or not. If it does, zakah becomes obligatory; if not, it does not. In the present case, the two tolas of gold along with 80,000 rupees in cash together equal, or even exceed, the value of 52.5 tolas of silver. Therefore, the petitioner is obliged to pay 2.5% zakah annually.

مأخَذُ الفَتوی

كما في الفتاوى الهندية: (ومنها فراغ المال) عن حاجته الأصلية فليس في دور السكنى وثياب البدن وأثاث المنازل ودواب الركوب وعبيد الخدمة وسلاح الاستعمال زكاة، وكذا طعام أهله وما يتجمل به من الأواني إذا لم يكن من الذهب والفضة. [(1/ 172)]
وفي بدائع الصنائع: فأما إذا كان له الصنفان جميعا فإن لم يكن كل واحد منهما نصابا بأن كان له عشرة مثاقيل ومائة درهم فإنه يضم أحدهما إلى الآخر في حق تكميل النصاب عندنا … (ولنا) ما روي عن بكير بن عبد الله بن الأشج أنه قال: مضت السنة من أصحاب رسول الله ﷺ بضم الذهب إلى الفضة والفضة إلى الذهب في إخراج الزكاة. ولأنهما مالان متحدان في المعنى الذي تعلق به وجوب الزكاة فيهما وهو الإعداد للتجارة بأصل الخلقة والثمنية فكانا في حكم الزكاة كجنس واحد. ولهذا اتفق الواجب فيهما وهو ربع العشر على كل حال وإنما يتفق الواجب عند اتحاد المال. (٢/١٩).
