Respected Mufti Sahib, Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmahullahi Wa Barakathuhu!
My uncle is a lawyer of the High Court. He wants to start a shop or some other business with me using his money. I do not have any money of my own. Can I do any business with him? That is, the money will be his, and I will work hard, and the profit will be half and half in between us. Can I do this, or can I work with him on salary?
In business, if one person owns the capital and the other person owns the work, and the profit is determined in terms of half-and-half etc or by percentage, then this contract is called "Mudarabat", which is also permissible and correct according to Sharia. And if the questioner wants to work for a salary, then according to Sharia this is also permissible and the contract will be called "Ijarah", so either of these two can be taken. And Allah knows best!
My friend wants to invest with me Should I give him a fixed profit or not?
