Assalamu Alaikum
I have named one of my daughters who is 14 years old as "Laiba". Some people say that this name is not correct, I need your guidance in this regard please.
"Laiba" is an Arabic word and is derived from "laaba", which means, thirsty, or wandering of a thirsty person around the water. As such, in terms of meaning, it is not appropriate to keep this name. So, it is better to name the girl after a name of one of the Sahabiyat (may Allah be pleased with them) or one of the names of virtuous Muslim women or name with a good meaning.
