What do the esteemed scholars and jurists say regarding the following matter that I am involved in the computer business. People come to me to scan images (of living beings), which include both necessary (e.g., identity cards, etc.) and unnecessary recreational pictures. Kindly clarify: is it permissible for me to scan such images? And what is the ruling regarding the use of the money earned through this?
I also sell CDs. My question is: apart from audio-only speeches of well-known scholars (i.e., without images), is it permissible for me to buy and sell CDs of cartoons and such naats (Islamic songs) that contain shirk-related (polytheistic) phrases?
t should be clear that the buying and selling of CDs containing speeches without images is undoubtedly permissible and valid. As for scanning the mentioned documents or merely trading in CDs containing cartoons, and using the income earned through them, there is leeway in using them; however, avoiding all such matters is better and preferable.
However, it is imperative to refrain from buying and selling CDs that contain shirk-related (polytheistic) phrases for the purpose of distribution.
